Welcome New Adventurer to World of Warcraft!

Image
Hello adventurer,  I am excited to see you have joined us on this journey. You are joining other fellow champions, like yourself, to save the planet Azeroth from any number of villains.  Step 1: Pick a realm.  If you are a fan of multi-verse fiction, think of each realm as a different phase of the same planet. In IT terms, each realm is a cluster group. The differences here are only the population of people who call it home. With recent changes, realm lines are blurred so much that the realm doesn't really matter. You can share your gold and equipment across realms using the "warband" or account-bound bank. You can join guilds across realms (even factions).  Step 2: Character creation.  Build the character you enjoy. Experiment. Keep in mind that the gender and appearance can be changed in-game at the barber shop, but the race and class cannot. (unless you want to spend money). If you have friends or family playing with you, create a character in the same...

IT: Ready Player One (may include spoilers from book)

Image
I mentioned the book Ready Player One in my  Liebster  award. Now that the movie is only about a month away from release, I've had my son (11yo) start reading the book for his English class. He's having a bit of a disconnect with all of the 80's references in the movie, so I thought I'd help him 'a little' by looking up some of the video games. Using this  wiki page  as a reference and a few emulator sites, you too can be Parzival, Aech or Art3mis. Adventure:  ( EO ) Game referenced because of the 'easter egg' that the author put in the game. Joust : ( EO ) Game for copper key. Dungeons of Daggorath : Gateway game. Found a nice community site here.  Also a Windows 10 Microsoft  port of the game. PacMan : ( EO ) Parzival plays a perfect game. Zork:  ( Archive.Org ) Turned into a 3D world that users must collect all the trophies.. Black Tiger (aka Black Dragon):  ( Game Oldie s): Gateway game. Tempest  ( EO ...

Not Excited About BfA Allied Races.

Image
I am really not excited about Allied Races . Think about it. Most players play WoW in third person. From this angle, I can see the top of my character's head, their back (or cape), pants and maybe shoes. Why would I care about their face, eyes, or really what color their skin is? The view from the armory is the only time I really see the frontal view of my character. Typical view of character When looking at my character, it's about the animations; the movement fluidity, the run gate, how cool the jump is, and fighting animations. If you can't deal with looking at the backside of your character, there's no point. I guess, ElPlato could have yellow contacts?  So, when I look at the planned allied races, I am not excited. Here we have (yet another) cosmetic model of 6 different in-game classes. Quick skim of the models, and I see mostly eye colors and skin color differences for existing models. Something I see zero of when in my armor set and actually playin...

Topic 24 - Class Fantasy Yay or Nay

Image
Post about class fantasy with some fantasy conversation between my pally and my warlock. Warlock: I hate my class hall. I hate my class mount. Demons stink and they don't bathe. I have to go into the sewers to get to my class hall and all it is space on the demon hunter starting zone. Demon Hunters!?! who took my demon form in return for empowered demon minions. Paladin: I was just born about a year ago now, so I am new to this, but you're a warlock. You have a demon as a pet following you around all the time. I'd think you would be used to it by now.  Your class mount is almost identical to that fel-horsey you rode around Dalaran for months. Now you are saying you don't like it?   Like you have it hard. Your class hall is a shiny golden palace. Your mount comes in three colors and you can change it based on your outfit. Top it off, you got help the priest class hall and stole away one of their followers. You have a giant space alien dancing aro...

Rumored Legion Patch 7.4: All For One

Image
Now that we've finally taken down the Burning Legion in their home world (Legion patch 7.3). It's time to start working on taking care of some corrupted old gods. This isn't going to be easy, and we're going to have to work together.  (cut scene) Dalaran - current time - the teleporter pad in the center of Dalaran has been destroyed and players can no longer access their pillars. Here Khadgar calls all players together and announces the defeat of the Burning Legion (cheers). He now needs us to join together as one to purge the last of the corruption. The crowd starts chanting "ALL FOR ONE! ALL FOR ONE!" (fade to black) Factions? In patch 7.4 all factions will be destroyed. We've seen the death of too many leaders and thrown into disarray. Khadgar will be offered the role, but will pass on it so he can continue his role as Guardian . Illidan will be offered the role, but will also pass. Anduin will step forward as the leader of both the combi...

Zone less Warcraft

The Legion invasions have shown us that Timewalking is about to go mainstream.  Blizzard has mentioned that there will be no questing from zone a to zone b path, instead you'll be able to go in any order you wish.  What I think they've failed to explain is that it doesn't necessarily mean at level 100+. I forsee content having no borders.  You approach a bad guy, he will automatically match your level.  This means you could theoretically raid, quest and run heroic dungeons if your gear is appropriate. Or would you need to complete the pre-quests? Of course, some content will still be gated. You can't have people flying around before level forty, can you?? Oh! Disregard my chauffeur please, and this pair of wings,  and the feather from Draenor. So my question is, why am i bothering to level my bank toon? Next week,  she'll be running Siege LFR!! Leveling via all possible dungeons! And maybe even questing in Panda land even though she's not even level...

Vanilla Server

Image
If you haven't figured it out, a true Vanilla ain't ever gonna happen. Why not just let Nostalrius continue the way it was? The honest answer is, failure to protect against intellectual property infringement would damage Blizzard’s rights. This applies to anything that uses WoW’s IP, including unofficial servers. And while we’ve looked into the possibility – there is not a clear legal path to protect Blizzard’s IP and grant an operating license to a pirate server. ( source ) Blizzard is never going to allow someone else to run and modify their game. Allowing the Nostalrius servers to exist is allowing someone else to own and modify their property. "Here's this awesome book I wrote, I don't mind if you pretend you wrote it, add chapters, change character names.." right.. This Nostalrius crew could do fine and honor the original game premise, never modifying it from it's original roadmap, but they don't have to. The real EQ Killer If Blizzard l...

Comic: Demonology in Legion (complete)

Image
I had plans to post an image every few days leading up to today, Easter Sunday, ending with my final punchline today. Vacation happened faster than I could anticipate and spent all day last Saturday packing instead of posting. So instead of episodic, this is the entire comic. You should be able to open the first one, then simply slide to the right to get the next panel of the comic. The Summons The Meeting The Quest The Legion What?? The Agony ZZIIIIPPPPP!! The Solution Oh, this doesn't look good. The Love This doesn't look good. The Quote Go forth malefic bunnies! This comic was inspired by this quote posted November 10, 2015 by Blizzard. This blog post details changes coming to warlocks in Legion and how demonology has 'strayed' from it initial inception.

Comic: Demonology in Legion (Part 1)

Image
Let me explain Late last year, my daughter asked for one of the "stress relieving" coloring books. They were all the rage locally, sold everywhere including the grocery store. (Retailers, take note, if you sell coloring BOOKS, this is a great up-sell opportunity to also sell coloring PENS/MARKERS/PENCILS!!) I had fun coloring in her book, so decided to get one for myself. Sadly over the holidays, I could not find markers anywhere until late-January and didn't want to commandeer her glorious 100 color gel pen set.. With that, I finally purchased my own ZenDoodle Calming Swirls coloring book. Lots of intricate little dots, swirls, swooshes and patterns to color in. So far, I've colored about half of one page. It was then, that I realized that my color-blindness could be making this awesome pattern rather bland or ugly? "Oh that looks 'nice'" One side effect of having a giant box of markers and paper on my desk is that I started doodling. ...

Don't Knock It; Valor is Power

Image
VALOR IS POWER! The outrage over ' Crystalized Fel for Valor' is palpable. Oh No! Casual players are now able to get a 790 ring! LFR players with MYTHIC LEVEL GEAR! Blizzard is making raiding pointless! They are catering to the casual! Unfortunately this attitude is self defeating and will only hurt players more over the next few months. Valor upgrades may be the only way players are able to participate. Here are a two of the suggestions I've read. You just need to do "all 8 mythic dungeons" ( source ) each week. Just need to raid, it's 100% drop rate from Archimonde 1000 Valor is easy to get. Sure, it's easy. I manage to get about 1000 valor each week on my priest while she is running the dungeon events and raiding for her legendary ring. At this time, she is averaging 685 level gear. All her valor points are going to fully maxing out the few 695 (empowered baleful) items and those world boss/shipyard to 715 items. I've spent 2500 va...

Oh Blizzard, Can You FIX My Toy Box?

Image
So, as I now have flying on all my toons, I've started flying around to all of the various treasure locations in Draenor collecting toys whenever possible. In addition, I have 2 (of my 3 100s) that are now actively working to improve their garrison followers by sending them on tons of missions. This means they get all the nice drops, goodies and things from these missions. Sadly, I still get at least one Staff of something another about once a week. See, the problem is that when I get these wonderful little treasures, I can't simply 'add' them to my Toy Box, (click to bind) as I have already collected this toy with my main. I can't simply throw it away, I have to D.E.L.E.T.E. it. I can't even sell it on the auction house as it's BOP. Blizzard, someone's broken my toys and I am grumpy. I have some ideas to fix this. If I click on a toy that I already have, cast it's effect on me, then consume it.  OR If I get a new toy, popup a little ...
