Resource Site: Ask Mr Robot

Image
Reading through comments on Killing 'em Softly on reforging, someone suggested using the AskMrRobot.com . After reviewing this site, I am really excited about it. Why do I want to Ask Mr Robot?  First blush, Mr Robot provides you a breakdown of your current gear, what gems and enchants each item has and if you've reforged it. At the top, you get an overall gear score for this build. My first impression was Wow-Heroes, without the " you could be running " information or MaxDPS with more functionality. Now looking a little closer. In your gear column, note those red arrows. These are items that you could still upgrade (based on the filter at bottom you selected). For example, if I select the filter to NOT include Darkmoon Cards , the Witching Hourglass turns into the BIS pre-raiding trinket. There are 6 different filter options (rep, money, archaeology, darkmoon cards, BOE World drops and random drops) and 3 levels of gear (pre-raid, raiding and raiding heroics)...

Justice for Warlocks!

Like, OMG, did you see what that outfit on Lady Nas'Jar . It's like totally last Xpac. Doesn't her BFF know that Periwinkle is not the new Purple ? (ends bad imitation of teen-age girl) I don't know about you, but I am already tired of the "Is this item better than what I have?" game. Sure PAWN is awesome! , in that I can see immediately if it's an upgrade, or if I should vendor it. Combine that with Outfitter, and I've basically automated gear selection and equipping. What I am totally looking forward to, is my first round of point-purchased gear . You know, that gear you only replace by raiding, or doing the next round of dungeons. Head - Cowl of Pleasant Doom (2200 justice points) Neck - String of Beaded Bubbles (1250 justice points) Shoulders - Meadow Mantle (1650 justice points) Chest - Robes of Embalmed Darkness (2200 justice points) Hands - Gloves of Painless Midnight (1650 justice points) Waist - Incense Infused Cumberbund (1...

Why are you not Championing?

I know, I know, you're not an achievement whore ( like me ). You're not a mount junkie ( like me ). You're all about the game. Still it's free rep to champion one of the new races coming into the game, and Blizzard has made it EASY to get exalted with your faction's new race. I ran a Heroic HOR and picked up a quick 1000 rep with the goblins . You need approximately 40,000 rep to get to Exalted. That's an easy (at the current rate) 40 heroic (Wrath) dungeons. Just for wearing their tabard...Combine that with a bunch of Justice points you'll get.. Cheaper prices when purchasing from the Goblins Possibility of a loud, alliance bashing mount Tons of badges justice points for your Tier 11 set when Cata drops next week.  Why are you not championing while in the dungeons?

Championing in Cataclysm

Image
I don't know about you, but I loved the " Championing " aspect of Wrath. What better way to quickly gain rep than by simply running dungeons and raids, while sporting the colors of your latest team. Cataclysm continues the grand tradition with new groups to champion. What? you say I always wanted that ravasaur mount from the Trolls, but never bothered to get Exalted! Well now is your chance. Blizzard is introducing tabard s for all old-world (and new) races. Don't know about you, I look forward to raising my Goblin rep to exalted , so I pick up one (or all) of those cool trikes. Go see CAL!

Let it Loose!

I would like to propose that we have fun! Let it loose. Quit worrying about gear scores and trainers for a few hours and simply go into the game to be silly, rude and even random().  Here's what I am thinking... Frat Party to the Panties Raid Grab as many of your friends, pick a 10-20 man raid (old world or BC) and complete it. Two requirements: you are totally smashed , pick your poison. healers cannot heal you if you are not. you end with less gear on that started. I suggest a rule where each class must remove an item based on what drops. Cloth shoulders, all priest, mage and warlocks must bag their shoulders.  Repeat raiding until all are naked (or only in non-stat clothes (i.e. seasonal clothes, pirate shirts or guild tabards )) Streak Dalaran Now that you are all (virtually) naked, streak around Dalaran (as a group). Make a few laps, whooping it up as noisily as possible. Invite those that join you for on a...   Naked Progressive Party By now, hopefully,...

Warlock's notes on what I do in PVP.

Image
I just got out of a fairly intense Arathi Basin battlegrounds and was thinking about Dave's comment earlier. PVP when I first started playing was intimidating. I was actually so afraid of dying, that I wouldn't play. Go figure. At least Wintergrasp has vehicles, helps you feel protected when someone drives you around in a tank. After some time playing various battlegrounds, you think that if you could only last 2 seconds longer, or if you only cast that fear a little faster, how much better PVP life would be.. It's not about how quickly you die, but how quickly your attackers die. PVP Pajamas The trouble with it is, you can't PVP without PVP gear. It's pointless. Think about playing professional football, against a fully dressed team, and you're going in there wearing your pajamas. So, you need to upgrade those PJs as quickly and cheaply as possible. My suggestion, as it was for Children's week , play Wintergrasp. With Triumph badges (quit spending them...

What should be an easy achievement...

Image
I was reviewing my reputation with  the various factions today and I realized that I've hit Exalted with about 15 different groups. 16 (of 20) according to the achievement page. This implies to me that I should have or be really close to completing the Ten Tabards achievement. Unfortunately when I review, I currently have only equipped 7. So, how do I go about acquiring the remaining 9 that I've earned? How do I even figure out which ones I've already purchased? Due to the lack of stacking or separate character tab, I've tossed the " Championing " tabards as soon as I hit exalted. OK that means I've worn: Argent Crusade Ebon Blade Kirin Tor Wyrmrest Accord Next, I have my guild tabard (5) and my Explorer tabard (6). Ok, I just realized that I got a tabard from fire festival (7). Whew! Thanks for lending your ear, er eyes. Now for the remaining tabards.  I qualify for all of the horde tabards, but they appear to be 50 champion seals each (s...

Championing Rep - Who's first?

Image
A guildie last night just achieved Exalted status with the Horde Expedition and was looking to who's tabard they should Champion first? When I started championing the different factions, I started with Knights of the Ebon Blade , because they had an item that I wanted as an upgrade the quartermaster sold. Unfortunately, by the time I reached exalted, I had already found a better upgrade by doing heroics. That's why I suggest that the first tabard you start wearing is not for the gear, but for the vendor savings. I am always in Dalaran; my hearth is set there. I do my repairs, I pickup reagents, I buy food and drink there. Heck, I even bought my final 2 mounts for the Leading the Cavalry achievement there. By reaching exalted with the Kirin Tor , I have saved myself a lot of gold for all these items. In addition to the vendor discounts (20% at Exalted, 15% at revered, 10% at honored). I purchased the Armored Brown Bear at Honored for 750g, if I waited until Exalted, I could...

Daily Grind

Image
With all my Brewfest achievements completed and I got my elek , it's back to the daily grind. One note, it's saddening to fly around with guildies now that have their violet proto drakes . The 30% speed increase over my regular-epic mount makes me feel so slow.. Even the druids in flight form fly faster. QQ Argent Tourney dailes are more enjoyable now with my new video card. I can actually do the melee portion of the fights and win. I was able to successfully get exalted with Thunder Bluff last night. Picked up the 6 kodo mounts available in Mulgore. ( 39/50 mounts). 7 more available for Silvermoon , then potential for 11 more for through the Argent Champion dealers . The Hodir dailies, while quick ( Immolate + Conflagerate = 2 seconds to dead), are tiresome, but stil necessary (only revered). Guess I need to find a tabard, or maybe run more regular dungeon dailies . Sort of looking forward to Halloween , so that I have a definite reason to logon. Last holiday till I g...
